Sunny's art has been shaped by the people and places that have touched her life since she was a young girl. The daughter of champion surfer Bobby Male, Sunny has never strayed far from the coast and this is reflected in her work.

A connection with the ocean, which can only come from years spent travelling and surfing the world, allows Sunny to capture the colour and form of waves in her work. Sunny achieves this so well by using translucent layers of colour and texture that give real depth and movement to both her interpretations of waves and her more abstract work. This use of texture can largely be attributed to her formal artistic training in printed textile design (Ba Hons). Sunny has since gone on to inspire (and be inspired by) hundreds of budding artists in her role as a secondary art teacher.

To capture the essence of Sunnys work in a few words is difficult. It is drawn from how she feels at the time with the intention that it evokes a meaningful response from the viewer in their time.
